Thanks, Rob.
Having a poll always up and running at a website is a bit of an added inducement for folks to come take a look at the interesting current issue and then quickly, easily, have their say without feeling publicly spotlighted. The poll provides some instant gratification when individuals make their choice and a graph immediately appears showing the results to date.
Here is a good example of a fun site which almost always has a poll up and running (click "Our Current Poll" under the banner "BRC Polls" about halfway down the page at http://www.burningman.com/) and which provides open access for community members to archived poll result data going back years (http://www.burningman.com/polls/polls.php). Each poll usually runs for about a month, so there is plenty of time for everyone to consider the issue and weigh in with their responses.
This sort of approach to awareness-raising and data-gathering on local community issues via having online polls running at the website may be of interest to Friends of Puna's Future.
