Punaweb wasn't the only place to post the press release on their site.
In today's electronic delivery of press releases, many reporters and news organizations have come to the realization that embargos' was a fall back to days when instant communications wasn’t available. It could take hours to deliver the information and that gave the closest entity a leg up. But with today’s instant communications ability, embargos are considered manipulative.
What was so important in the release that begged to create so much hostility by an early release? Was it that some bloggers had already gone to bed? Was some busy preparing a startling 12:00 am release to claim being the first to report it? Like I said, within minutes of Rob posting the info, other Hawaii information sources also released it.
I get the impression this has little to do with the embargo and more to do with others not being the first. Or is it just an anti Punaweb thing? Since I don’t see anyone else getting their butts handed to them in public, I have to think it was a targeted attack or maybe they just censored any comments that made them look bad.
