I very much doubt it and to have it "analyzed" by a machine, no, I really don't think so. Yes, I'm sure there's a spectral signature for weed but suspect it'd be so weak and drowned out by all the other signatures of surrounding plants.
We do a little bit of automatic line detection but it's not reliable and I can't see how it would work in a moving and vibrating helicopter that is looking at so much background noise.
What I think is much more likely, and think it's been mentioned in the thread, is that infrared cameras are being used in some way. That's a technology that's used all over the world, especially by the military and police forces. Quite what they'd be looking for I don't know, I don't grow pot, but any heat sources would stand out a mile.
