On the MacBook Pro, a lot of models got a bad video chip. There was a class action suit, and Mac will fix it. No idea if that is your problem, but perhaps you are having display issues, Pam. I called Apple Care and they checked to see if mine was on the list of probably having that chip. It was.
I sent it in last week. Maybe the store in town can deal with those repairs, don't know. I shipped mine. I shipped it Fed Ex on Monday and they had it back Friday, which amazed me.
I have had some problems with the MacBook Pro since I bought it in 2007. While on Apple Care they replaced the display screen and other major stuff that went bad early for a pretty new computer. Also the second battery I've had is dead now. Also they replaced the chip but the problems are still happening. Might help you to look into the recalled chip issue though.
I love the Apples, but I don't like the quality of the parts they used for this.
I run no anti-virus, no malware program, and I have no problems. My old PC was a whole other story, always concerned about security.
