Well if this topic is going to turn to the Nature of Man then it is time to get back to the topic which is the State Legislature passing the Civil Union bill.
The Civil Union bill is not defined by sexual orientation. It is actually based on contract law and broadens the scope of civil unions (contracts). This is a case of separation of church & state. The churches can do as they like. The state is doing what it is doing. So there is still time to write the legislature or governor stating your support or lack thereof.
Imagine if you will two people in their 70's who have no children, blood family or heirs. They might be dear best friends for life. A civil union would allow them legal rights in a number of situations involving medical/hospital, inheritance etc. The issue has been wrapped up in all kinds of overtones which obscure the fact that it is a contract issue under the constitution.

Assume the best and ask questions.
