Some people really need to look at a map. Try to guess: how far away are we from Japan, before you google it.
Even if there was a huge nuclear explosion in Japan (there wasn't, and there won't be) and the wind blew this way, the effects would be minimal to unnoticeable.
ETA: To put it another way, try to guess a major mainland city that is the same distance from Hilo as Tokyo. Then ask yourself if you'd be checking the wind forecasts if something happened there.
