Hello Puna from Japan again. I wish I could agree with all the "there's-nothing-to-worry-about" news — but I'm getting a very sick feeling in my stomach about Fukushima. This is the real deal. "Everything is stable" could be translated into "Japan is hanging by its fingernails." How much longer any one of those containers can contain the heat that's inside is the question. And all those containers are sitting right next to each other. And ALL the pipes and valves and switches and wires got blown up in the hydrogen explosion. And they are all so contaminated that repair work on them is deadly.
The Japanese news does not mention if too often, but the can-do Americans are here and my only hope is that the entire mess will be turned over COMPLETELY to the American nuclear engineers. Tokyo Electric and the government agencies have screwed this up enough.
The radiation dose chart is very good and accurate but it's not the top of the chart that's relevant in Japan now. It's the bottom of the chart that's relevant.
