Worse than that... In 1961 we moved about 10 miles, two towns away (in Maine). I was a freshman in HS with 7 young siblings. When my folks passed on 40 plus years later, they still weren't considered locals. Strange as it may seem, I feel Hawaii is more my home in my heart than that town ever was.
