This won't help csgray as it's out of the way, over near restaurant row. But for others who visit Honolulu, one of the best kept secrets is VINO (next to Yoshi's), owned and run by Master Wine Sommelier Chuck Furuya. (I'm guessing that Lee knows Chuck since he used to work at La Mer back in the day.) The food is very good and caters to a local crowd, which means the prices are way below the Waikiki tourist-oriented establishments. No surprise the wine selection is wonderful, and again, very reasonable. Just be forewarned: Chuck's a playful guy who likes to randomly flick wine corks at customers. When he's not flicking corks he's busing tables and sitting with his guests. It feels like you're hanging out in his home, a really nice way to spend an evening in Honolulu.
