Total Lunar Eclipse

You might consider driving up the Saddle Road to the summit turn off (around the 27-28 mile marker). The MK webcams suggest the cloud layer on the east side is low and suspect you might get a view up there above the clouds - Hilo can be seen from the summit so it ought to be clear. I can't guarantee anything and am not exactly sure where the moon sets or the sun rises from that point in the morning, but suspect that's your best bet.

It's only halfway to Kona...
