Oink, I'm not anti gun ownership; I just feel that gun proliferation increases the chances of criminals getting a hold of weapons rather than decreasing them.
I've no need to arm myself, the vast majority of my veteran friends here don't feel the need to have guns around either. Lucky we live Hawaii! Don't need em here. Perhaps if I lived somewhere that had a much higher percentage of armed people around, I'd feel the need. I sure carried as a matter of habit when I was in that environment. I feel fortunate to live in a state that has less violent crime, fewer guns, stricter gun laws and almost no Republicans (sorry, couldn't help myself).
I'd even go so far as to suggest that more "wannabe's" feel the need to arm themselves than combat veterans. Look at recent events in Florida, where a paranoid cop "wannabe" shot an unarmed youth for the crime of WWB (walking while black). I guarantee you that a trained LEO such as yourself or veteran that's experienced combat probably wouldn't have let that happen. The murderer's gun was legal and registered, but was in the hands of, what's the word I'm looking for here? Oh Yeah,..... an idiot.
The legislators that would pass a law as archaic as the "stand your ground" law;...............Idiots.
Enjoy the serenity of Hawaii and it's gun ownership hurdles.
peace!
