I hope I used enter enough for the person who said I didn't have enough white space so they din't read my post! LMAO its probably more due to my long winded opinions ;D
I only said that because I'd seen quite a few of your posts that were unreadable solid blocks of text. It's not an insult. It was one of the first well meant tips a friend gave me. Break up the text. The human eye needs that when reading a monitor.
Thanks.
I have lived in urban, suburban, and rural environments. Rural environments have included a few that were far from help or neighbors. So far so good. Back in the day, I knew people who got into trouble. I knew people who dealt with the mob, Hells' Angels, and pure craziness. I did my best to keep a degree or two of separation. I never felt that a gun would help me. <shrug> What helped me the most was keeping my head straight and cultivating a sense of when to get away from a situation. [

I would rather pay more money to live in a neighborhood on this island where people don't come around breaking into occupied homes. There are places in Puna that I have looked at that put my radar up and I said, hell no. I'd rather do it that way. When I lived in Oakland, I picked a neighborhood where I wouldn't be in the crossfire. Yes, I was well aware of it, and where it was, and I didn't go there.
If I had insisted on going there, I might have been shot.
You can't avoid every situation where some crazy person might start shooting, but I don't think the answer is for everyone to start carrying.
There's an illogical assumption that is so and so "good person" has a gun, that the other people in the situation would not. But if one advocates more guns, then the increase should be proportional -- good and bad alike will have them.
Say Dana Ireland had a gun. Well then, you also have to assume the three sorry excuses for human beings who ran her over also had guns. Who wins, three guys in a vehicle with guns, or the girl on the bike? The only way the situation improves, MAYBE, is if only the proposed victim has a gun -- but why would it work that way?
HAWAII IS NOT ALASKA. [
