Whether it looks ugly on not it was a needed improvement.All of the quaint historic stuff is great for tourism but those of us who live in lower Puna,at least me,need an alternative to Hilo.
How would you make a store like Longs look like old Pahoa?
A termite eaten building with a rusty roof won't pass the new code.I have lived in towns that tried to recreate their past with faux buildings.
They look more hideous than than Longs by far .
