I know people who fly their large "service" dogs in the cabin on Alaska Airlines on a regular basis. The airline is not allowed to ask what the disability is, but they are allowed to ask what task the dog performs. If your answer is that the dog supplies "emotional stability" or something like that they are allowed to deny you and the dog because they can deny passage to anybody who is unstable. But just about anything else flies.
