I suppose I should be careful what I say, but I have often flown over Eden Roc and Hawaiian Acres in a small fixed wing. There is no way of telling whether I pissed any one off. Given some of the heated rhetoric posted, there is no way that I can avoid pissing some people off.
When flying down to Pu'u O'o, it is natural to follow Highway 11 til you get to Mountain View, then cut across. Given that the cloud bases are often in the 2,500' to 3,000' range and given that the terrain in Eden Roc is in the 1,800' range, you can see why sometimes the aircraft fly at 1,000' agl.
I'll admit that when helicopters fly over my place in Eden Roc it can get to be annoying, but I have personally read on this website other posters suggest using kites or tethered balloons as a deterrent. I wonder do these posters know that such deterrents have actually been used in wartime and that there are laws that apply today against such activities? I mainly wonder whether such people actually hear what they themselves are saying.
