Well, after doing a bit of research... That option is out. The only inter island rides available starts in honolulu and does the 5 island loop that ends up right back in honolulu again start @ 1K per person tho I'm sure you can find deals it's not something I am interested in in.
In short of finding someone that has the experience and a boat the only way your gonna get out of Hilo to Honolulu besides Go and Hawaiian is Swim or buy your own boat.
Unless someone has more idea's? I'd think finding just some random dude with a 32' boat would be kinda risky since boating that far in open oceans can be tricky when an unknown storm rolls in. Think Gligans Island. Altho, the possibilities of winding up on a remote island does sound kinda cool.
