Is growth really needed for a healthy economy? If you keep things working efficiently "as-is" doesn't that meet our needs? I lived on Molokai for a while, and that island hasn't grown or changed much at all. But the people there live and work pretty happy together, well at least no worse than anywhere else. And the people there do not want growth, and fight hard to keep it the way it is. It shows that you can keep things the way they are and still have a good life.
