Home Despot sells two kinds of plastic roofing:
the cheaper stuff is PVC, will turn brittle after years in the sun, but happens to match the pattern of old-style metal roofing, so you can make skylights (if not being inspected; the plastic won't pass fire code)
the more expensive kind is polycarbonate, much better longevity, but not compatible with other roofing styles, however it's available (by special order) in a wide range of colors
Beware: some of the "special" screws (stocked in the back corner with the roofing) are zinc-plated and will rust -- spend the extra money on "real" roofing screws.
