Chess at Ainaloa long house

We have a pretty dedicated group of chess players that gather at the Ainaloa long house every Wednesday from 9:00am till about 1:00pm. We seem to, at least the times I've been there, from 6 to 8 players or more. Dedicated, in that they keep coming back. Just a group of chess friends that enjoy the game.

So far, I see at least three chess Grandmasters, and two International Masters, and three National Masters. People are still signing up, so I expect some more titled and class players to come. It's a wonderful excuse to come to Hawaii. I played in the Hawaii Open a couple of years ago, and had a good time, played well, and met some nice people there.

I was trying to decide whether to play in this one, or go to Las Vagas for the National Open in June. I've played at the National Open maybe 6-7 times since the mid 1990s, and always had a fantastic time.
No time for shows, and I don't gamble. One year there were 1106 players! But, it's so much easier to fly to Oahu, and a lot less $$.
