Acoustic Shells for Puna
#1
I came just across this in a trade magazine. http://www.archilovers.com/projects/1330....html#info
Puna could use a good venue for live performances. These shells, kinda like the Waikiki shell, were once popular. After the Industrial Revolution they fell out of favor as electricity brought people went indoors. Maybe there's a subdivision in Puna where the residents are agreeable to new ideas. Maybe not, but this kind of thing wouldn't be expensive and would make a big impact.
Also, I would love to be involved in building one. These shells are basically made from ferrocement. This is kind of construction my company does. I'm not here fishing for work but I always keep my eye open for interesting projects that would be fun and would actually enhance peoples lives.
Functional sculpture.
The biggest problem I would imagine is how to keep skateboarders off of it.
