I used to work within the state system when I was in Alaska. Not all "sex offenders" are created equal. So while I like to know who they are, I do keep an open mind and look at dates/ages of the offender, etc.

I knew a really nice local Native Alaskan boy who was 18. His girlfriend was 15. Illegal. Age of consent in Alaska is 16. She got pregnant, had a baby. He went to jail and has to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. They are still married 10 years later (they got married when she turned 18 and he was out of jail). They have a few more kids, nice happy couple.

Edited to add: The reason why I bought up his Native Alaskan status is that for a lot of natives, it is not abnormal to start families young. I know a lot of successful happy couples that had children starting in their teenaged years.
