I agree 100%. Instead of banning the bags they could have just said whatever the bags are made of must be compostable.

I used to work at a small plastics injection molding facility and we put more plastic in the dumpsters each day than a person would use in their lifetime. Only about 10% of the waste was good enough for recycling.

Compostable plastic would be a good idea. I mean, it is out there, but maybe it should be the new standard. Not just with bags, but all take-out stuff too. Though I suppose if the compostable plastic just gets thrown out with the rest of the trash, it isn't really composting. But I agree it would be better.
