Any one heard of Eco Bldg products
#4
Interesting. I went looking for the ICC evaluation report (#3255) and finally found it. There is some indication it has been temporarily suspended. The link to the report from the company web site was broken.

The primary chemical used is sodium octaborate tetrahydrate which is an alkaline salt with properties similar to boric acid. Low toxicity. The treatment is compromised by water so the wood products need to be transported, stored and kept dry.

I was unable to find any info on the fire retardant claims which is too bad. Fire retarded wood would be of interest. Every town has a fire department for a good reason.

Basically it appears to be an alternative to Hi-bor with similar properties.

There are claims of "less waste" which I am at a loss to understand.

Good luck to them though. IF they actually do have a fire retarded wood product I wish they would list and show the UL fire rating.
Assume the best and ask questions.
