Sending online purchases to Hawaii

I just got the following "explanation" from Amazon; it's almost funny, except that it's very very sad:

I'd like to inform you that some seller with "Fulfilled by Amazon" label, are not willing to offer shipping to address other than the 50 states in United States of America. Because of this reason, some item from seller with "Fulfilled by Amazon.com" label might not be shipped to Hawaii or Alaska addressed.

I've heard that residents of New Mexico also have this "outside the USA" problem.
