Best cell phone in Puna?

Anyone have the no contract phone plans? We will be moving soon and trying to keep things cheap. Til we find out where we will be planting our feet on the Big Island. Currently we have the Virgin no contract phones and the service at our current house is crappy but it works in other places just fine. So we were wondering if anyone uses the no contract plans and try to find out the best one for us.
