Waiopai (Vacation land ) Fish Die -off
#19
The local head of the DLNR called my wife and said they wanted to set up a class for local residents to teach them how to collect fish when this happens and also to educate us about the reasons. Apparently the fish we collected were not viable because they were dead.We should have collected some live fish.

Even though the fish died it does not mean the water is unsafe for human beings. While fish are affected by PH,salinity and water temperature humans are not.

Hundreds of people are swimming there every day and I haven't noticed any dead tourists floating in the water or lying on the lava.

This uproar all started because Harry Kim was at his house on the lagoon and alerted the UHH , DLNR, news media and others.

Harry Kim's house was the closest house to where the fish kill occurred and he still has a cesspool !!!

I am getting tired of people blaming the residents down here of polluting the tidepools .We were able to get 18 cesspools replaced in the last year because of our own rules. No help from the county.

My wife and I had our cesspool filled and had a septic installed even though we are almost 1/4 mile from the ocean .

I really doubt that the fish die off was caused by cesspools but if you do, call Harry Kim and tell him to get his replaced !!
