Let's face it, a real honest to god reality show would be a little like looking at a friends vacation photos.
Nice, but unless they're a pro photographer, a little dull and repetitious after the first 10 or 20.
It's the same with people who aren't actors.
So the program director, writes a short script here, inserts a couple of tropical vistas there, and now you have video that will hold the audience's attention for half an hour.
If they don't, most people will hit the channel button on their remote after a few minutes.
