This is a Civil Defense message for Friday, September 20 at 8:00 in the morning.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency together with your Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency will conduct siren testing today between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm at the following locations:
• Mackenzie State Recreation Area near Pahoa, Hawaii
• Hilo Hillside Estates in Hilo, Hawaii
Residents near these sirens may her the siren sound for 30-second to 3-minute intervals and hear short blasts known as 'burps' anytime between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. These tests are necessary to ensure that newly installed sirens are working properly.
