Invasive weed removal on Mauna Kea

There was an effort to remove some of the weeds on Mauna Kea around the 9,000-foot level organized by the Office of Mauna Kea Management. They did a great job of clearing up a large area of invasive weeds.

Just curious if anyone knows if someone from the "protectors" also took part? Genuine question, facts rather than speculation or insults would be nice.
