Lava rock wall

Well, salt is an enemy of concrete. Probably best to wash the rocks before use. Someone once told me you will know you are aclimated to Hawaii when you find yourself washing rocks.

I'm not so sure it is okay to just pry up or gather rocks at the ocean front. You will have to make your decision about that. It would likely be someone's property. On our family farm in Connecticut we would regularly be amazed at people just coming on to our farm to steal stone from our stone walls. There are sources for stone and there are sources.
