compost/recycling structures?
#11
We got a plastic composter (called something like "Earth Machine") at the recycle center at Keaau transfer station. It's about 3 feet tall, maybe 2 feet across, and is made of two stacking cylinders.

We alternate kitchen waste (no meat) with shredded mail. It decomposes so fast, it has never filled even halfway up, though we had to move it when the papaya trees sprouted in it.

Caution: stink factor; put compost and garbage downwind of the house.

You don't HAVE to take your stuff to the dump yourself; there are independent garbage services in many areas. That sounds pretty fancy for a guy with a truck who picks up your waste for a fee.
