Do you have a link to where you read this? Or source?
Generally astronomers do not have a dual major in entomology, so I find it difficult to imagine they would even notice a bug hiding under cinder and rocks. Also, most of the astronomers would not even arrive on site until after the telescope is built, with the exception of a few who work with the architects during the planning stages.
