If you pretend to care about food safety then let's hold all food to the same safety standard
If you're worried about stuff that can kill you, don't stop at food. Consider alcohol and cigarettes (legal, long-term poisonous). The gas that goes in your car is toxic and creates carcinogenic byproducts during manufacture -- before you even spill some or breathe the fumes, let alone what it does to the environment after it's burned. Excessive exposure to sunlight, etc, etc.
