There are at least a half dozen LFA threads on Punaweb with info from us do-it-yourselfers that are using the same products as the professionals which is mostly derived from the Hawaii Ant Lab (HAL) web site.
LFA on/in the ground and low vegetation will COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR within about 18 hours of spreading Siesta bait granules. They sell a gigantic jug of Siesta at Pahoa Feed for $37. Sometimes you can find it on ebay for $25.
LFA on higher vegetation (trees) will need the Provaunt gel bait recipe available here: http://hawaii.gov/hdoa/labels/sln/1402_2019.pdf Provaunt can be purchased at CPS in Hilo and probably other places. I've also seen it online. You will also need some Xantham gum, peanut butter, and corn oil. They sell Xantham gum at Target in the baking aisle, I'm sure other stores have it too.
Forget Tango, it doesn't work. It might produce mild reductions after 8 months of continued use but it's not something you want to waste your time on if your pets are going blind. Honestly I think the LFA population reductions shown by using Tango is a perceived placebo effect. LFA populations rise and fall with the seasons and weather. You could spray urine around your property for 8 months and when you notice the LFA population declining you'll think your magic urine had something to do with it. Why not wipe them out in 2 days with Provaunt and Siesta instead?
