Probait's active ingredient is Hydramethylnon which is the same ingredient in Amdro and Extinguish fire ant baits. Unless there is something different about the baiting mechanism (usually corn grits) I don't know if Probait is any more effective than the similar brands, I've never used Probait. But from experience Siesta blows Amdro and the others away. (also, it is rated as more effective on the state web site).
Amdro did work a few times but then the ants weren't interested in it as much any more. Siesta produces a consistent, faster, and repeated wipeout of LFA populations that lasts a few weeks. Of course being a bait granule, it only kills the ants that can reach the bait which pretty much limits its effectiveness to ants on the ground and perhaps up to 10 feet up. Amdro makes a product called Firestrike (so does Extinguish, I believe its called Extinguish Plus) that has Hydramethylnon and Methoprene (the ingredient in Tango). It seemed to me like the first time I used it, maybe it was a little better, but after that, no difference. Maybe the first time was something else like weather that was part of the equation.
All I can say is that when I used Amdro or Extinguish, it worked at first but then had diminishing results, and Siesta has been very consistent and with faster results. I can't speak of Probait but if you try it I would recommend only buying as much as you can use in 1 or 2 treatments in case it loses effectiveness.
