HADave,
First tool I bought before we started building is the Hitachi FR350 (nail gun)which worked perfect, A good friend lent me his compressor and 10" chop saw, Wish that I had the 12" sliding one like you mentioned but kinda cashy at around $600 but useful for cutting most beams and headers. Another thought is to have good ladders on the job site I recommend having 2 6 footers one 7 foot and a good quality extension ladder for roof work. Buy a couple cordless drills with 1/2" keyless chucks, a good electric drill, and a hammer drill for masonry. If building post & pier glue & nail sub floor but make sure the nailer isn't setting the nails too deep the inspectors look for that. Also recommend getting a portable toilet as soon as the lot is ripped they run about $125 per month we use Triple K . run out of time got to finish the house more later.
