Been many folks out here in puna who have been battling a flu or dengue for weeks now. In most cases the 103 degree fever last for a couple days and is accompanied by a serious painful headache behind the eyes. The several I know who have already been through this never went to the doctor or had it tested for the possibility of dengue. Some Folks out here in puna are not use to going to doctors for anything outside of an emergency. With no insurance and lack of real doctors outside of Dr Dan in the area, many folks simply look for home remedies.
The dengue seems to be less of a killer than the regular flu? Now that there has been about 100 cases of dengue confirmed, how many of those cases have been fatal? The Swine flu a few years back in these parts hit harder than this dengue so far, jmo. Some folks like Obie may be over reacting when they say things like spray(Deet) or die? The tourists are still coming by the boat loads so dengue can't be that bad, right?
