Cesspools can be installed in lava beds. It does cost more. Not nearly as much as coastal California requirements where much of the ground does not perculate and often need 300' of dispersal trench plus a 100% expansion field. All I'm saying is it could be worst.
As for sactokim's post above: The larger tanks are only a few dollars more. Always buy the larger septic tank.
