Dont know the logistics to what has been happening around you and your home? I do hope it changes soon for you, here are a few thoughts or tips of mine. Really I don't believe in luck, good or bad, life just is to short most of the time to balance out, or just isn't fair all the time. Blessings seem to come to those who work hard and continue to give to those less fortunate. While what I call karma seems to follow or hang around those of us who deserve it.
Jmo here. Change can be exciting, educational, and encouraging to many. Why not change a few of your daily habits( thoughts, actions, and reactions)? Ever heard that saying which side of the bed did you wake up on? Try sleeping on the other end of your bed as to remind you of your new attitude or approach in life.
Also Practice Patience especially when dealing with others, who you cannot control or change. Although we truly can never really walk in someone else's shoes, mentally trying can be a stimulus practice that can remind some, as you put it how "lucky" some really are. Example, Although the american dream of owning a home has become easier with time, Most will still never own a home.
