Envision Mauna Kea is by it's nature a project of immense undertaking, and I'd like to thank Susan Maddox and Friends of the Future for organizing the effort. No doubt there will be a large amount of information gathered all across the island, let's hope it's substantially accurate and useful information.
These days it's easy to have giant hard drives filled with data, and access to an even larger cloud memory storage. But let's not forget what's important is not how much data or info you've collected, but whether that information is correct. There's a term for it in the computer world, GIGO, or garbage in, garbage out. It even has it's own wiki page:
... computers, since they operate by logical processes, will unquestioningly process unintended, even nonsensical, input data ("garbage in") and produce undesired, often nonsensical, output ("garbage out"). The principle applies to other fields as well.
Hopefully, no one could imagine that it would be helpful in any way for Envision Mauna Kea to waste their time collecting inaccurate comments from the public, polluting the sacred with the byproducts of deception and distortion.
