The other claim I made is just common sense TomK. Hilo and Puna residents are not allowed the brighter street lights for their keiki's safety or flashy neon lighted bill boards for advertisments due to the Astronomy communities important work being done on top of Mauna Kea. Why would several nations governments build a giant billion dollar telescope without certainty of the needed electricity to operate it? My electricity in my home alone has gone out many of times in the past 3 years causing problems to some household appliances. How many times has the electricity gone out for the Telescopes in the last three years? Also, what kind of damage could the loss of electricity pose to a telescope like the TMT?
