Merrie Monarch Festival
#13
The free evening hula show at the Edith Kanakaole stadium (located behind HPM which is between the airport and Ken's House of Pancakes) starts around 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. tonight. There is a three day craft fair at the Ah Fook Civic Auditorium (the inner side of the block from the Edith Kanakaole stadium). The craft fair runs during the daytime. Most of this stuff is listed in the newspaper, the Sunday edition had a big calendar section with all the times listed.

They have the videos and all sorts of hula books and Hawaiiana books at Basically Books along Hilo Bayfront.

I've heard you can sometimes get a ticket at the door from someone who's friend wasn't able to make it to the show, but you'd have to drive to Hilo and not know if you could get in or not. The ticketed hula events start around 5:00 and last for four to five hours. We are taking seat cushions and light lap robes just in case we end up in a windy spot.

A hui hou,
Cathy
