Once the "protectors" win back Mauna Kea, will any science be allowed on Mauna Loa?
No.
But the Protectors will get first choice of prime summit top addresses for their ahu. Then after decades of unmeasured global warming, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa become the last cool, habitable regions where humans can survive on earth. A war breaks out among the final survivors when they can't agree on whether they should move a few ahus so the tribe can plant and grow enough food for the next season. Humanity's last gasp.
Millennia later, a passing starship pauses on it's way to the landing pad at the Kalapana Star Sanctuary. Their crew looks down at the mountaintops and wonders, "what are all those rocks doing up there?"
On the fifth day - the scientists who studied the rivers - were forbidden to speak - or to study the rivers. -Jane Hirshfield's poem on creation
