"No drug problem in Ka'u" Hahahahaeffinghe. You have no idea where you are moving to And Ka'u Hospital is an eighteen bed long term care facility. There's and ER doc off and on and a sign that tells you where to call to see if he/she can come while you are dying from a heart attack. The most recent upgrade was someone refinished the hand railings and a couple new chairs. There's no trauma center on the entire Island. Hopefully Queens will continue their expansion. DH is an anomaly in the middle of Ka'u. Many of your neighbors will be on the mainland and with the defunct golf course, it can feel a bit isolated down there. Ka'u is different from Everywhere else. And don't think that because a particular bug or animal is not living there now, that they won't decide on a change of venue or expansion. Or maybe there's something brand new that's going to show up without warning. Nothing here is static or predictable.
But seriously, Glass, maybe you need to just sit back and listen instead of telling people who have a much better understanding of this place what it's really like here. You can read all the crap you want and quote all the Google Hawaiian you'd like, but you're not even close. While it may or may not be exactly third world, you're not going to walk to the corner store when you need a can of beans or something they don't have at Will and Grace's or the Ace Hardware. Maybe you and your mom will love it. But give it time before you talk like you're an expert about this place. It's a real turn off to a lot of people who know much better.
