Why are people trying to defend or live in the past? Or use it as an excuse not to move forward? The past sucks people. It's full of murder, slavery, tyrants, disease, superstition, hunger, rape, racism, ignorance, etc. They did not have it all figured out back then.
The fact that someone from way back might have been up on Mauna Kea means nothing. For all we know there could be DNA from a commoner killed by some Ali'i for looking at him wrong. Or a priest that believed you have to sacrifice a virgin to ensure a good crop. Or someone rich from the mining and adz making operation up there that keeled over from poor health while taking a hike. Or a stray umbilical cord. Who cares?
