Island Coffee farms looked at by ICE officials.

The media narrative of the last decade has been to blur the distinction between "immigrants" and "illegal immigrants". If you read a newspaper or watch the television they refer to the two groups as if they were one in the same. As far as the mainstream media is concerned, all immigrants are legal immigrants, and anybody who opposes immigration of any kind is a racist.

My mom immigrated to this country. She immigrated legally and became a citizen as soon as she was able to.

What's the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration? Legal immigrants learn the laws of this country before they get here, learn to speak English, learn our country's history, apply to live here legally, pass the test in English, and take the oath and become citizens. Like mom did.

Illegal immigrants start their lives here by learning how to circumvent our laws. It sounds crass, but it's part of the deal. That's what "illegal" means. Breaking laws.
