For those that wish to contribute to victims of Hurricane Irma, the NY Times has published the following article. There's no list of charities (yet) but it offers helpful advice:

Given some dubious posts here in the past about GoFundMe requests I would be careful about using them, but there are places that will use your dollars to help people in a desperate situation.
