Growing up in the 50's
Thanks for your Christmas memories Obie. I have equally fond recollections of those days.
Up until I was 8 years old I lived in an old farmhouse, the kitchen had been the original log cabin from the first homesteaders on the land. Our extended farm family was comprised of my parents, grandparents and an uncle. On Christmas Eve they all pitched in to create a fairly extravagant Christmas event for my sisters and I. My uncle climbed up on the snowy roof to ring a set of jingle bells removed from an old horse drawn sleigh while he stomped his feet to sound like reindeer. Parents and grandparents set up the tree, the Lionel train under the tree, and took a sip from the glass of milk and a bite of the cookie we left for Santa.
