HOTPE, do you really want to turn this thread into another TMT debate?

No, but I think it's important to look at every possible solution to the serious problems facing our coral reefs, and impacts on Hawaii's fish population. If as you've said, one million tourists are driving up the mountain, doesn't that mean there are one million less tourists on the seashore?

Does water run downhill?

Yes, yes it does.
And conversely if tourists drive uphill, doesn't that mean they're not downhill?
