Hi Aaron and anyone whose interested in
ultra high speed Internet (not me, but it's for my son). Aaron, I don't know what to say, but THANK YOU sooo much. I talked to Nancy at Oceanic Cable after looking at their business plans, and unlike, DSL, we can get it wherever we can get cable. She said to be sure that a rental we're looking interested in that advertises "Cable" really means cable and not satellite. She said many of the rental ads are misleading this way. Anywaaaay, depending on how much we want to spend, we can have 5 Mb download and either 1 or 1.5 Mb upload! For the 1.5, we'd be paying double what we pay here, but it may be worth it. Jordan's really into trying this out for a month. I decided we'd spend more at a nice hotel/resort for a week than renting a house for a month, and by renting a home he can better a feel for living in HPP, and more of a realistic view of Internet there, etc. He said he wants to see what the neighborhood's like, how his kitties like it, etc :-) Big Smiles here! Even if it doesn't work out (and I think it will), I'll have a month on the island. His whole attitude is better now about it, so much so, that he wondered if we could bring everything we need "in case we decide we like it." Woohoo! That's pretty huge coming from 14 y.o. So, yes the business packages at Oceanic Cable aren't that bad. The one with 768 upload is just a wee bit then we pay here now. Thank you again! I never would have found that. I found the Roadrunner site but they don't tell you anything. Oh, and one of the other customer support people, Deron, even did a survey on lunch break to see what kind of latency issues other online gamers have. That reminds me...thank you also for offering to test Jordan's games. I jumped the gun on that one. He was just wondering if, overall, Internet tasks are slowed down a lot there since Hawaii's so far from the mainland. Has anyone noticed a big difference? Well, I'd better get to work and start making some money lol (I work online).
